dusk is for acting:
the light from the sun slowly fades and the stage illuminates.
you drop in to a different world.
not sure if I’m allowed to post this but joyce has already been recast and the slime tutorial has been online for awhile so I feel like there’s no harm in it!! this is the last audition I did before I parted ways with my agency in December. 💔
This year, I decided to audition for grad school. I was under the impression that if I wanted to be a successful actor in New York City, I would need an MFA.
I chose one program to audition for.
This is rehearsal studio footage of me practicing my audition package.
I chose to wear black lipstick during my rehearsal because I thought it would make me feel artistic and powerful - it did.
I chose these specific monologues because I was comfortable with them. The Shakespeare professor at this school told me I was "too good for Sebastian" and asked me to do a piece with higher stakes in which I chose Isabella from Measure for Measure.
The Shakespeare professor also told me, "You are so good, why are you auditioning for this program?" I didn't say, "Because I was under the impression that if I wanted to be a successful actor in New York City, I would need an MFA."
My audition went well; they gave me validation that what's missing wouldn't be found in their program.
I didn't follow up after the audition.
They didn't either.
Screenplay by Eleanor Catton.
Featuring Caitlin Zerra Rose.
